CA is a well-known antivirus software company with a long reputation; however, their antivirus software offers neither a low price nor outstanding support options necessary to compete with today’s best antivirus software. The areas where CA antivirus falls short are in the user interface, resource usage, customer support, and to some degree real-time antivirus protection. CA includes a number of good features in the antivirus software, but leaves some others noticeably missing. One feature that we are glad to see added this year is automatic USB drive scanning. When you plug in a USB flash drive, the device is automatically scanned for any malware before it has the chance to spread and infect your PC. Another simple but useful feature we noticed was with right-click scanning. Not only can you right-click on any file and have it specifically scanned for viruses, but you can also quickly set the file to be whitelisted (always trusted) with the same ease. If on-line support is not an option for you CA does offer telephone support as well. There is one drawback however that makes this option for problem resolution a problem. That problem is cost. So if you plan on calling a tech to help you with your problems be prepared to pay out some money to do so. CA AV Plus 2011 sports several new features and many major enhancements over the previous generations of the product. It features the fastest scanning engine in the market and offers major enhancements in anti-malware capabilities.
