Beware of adware scan software like Spyware Stormer that some claim is fake

As if computer users didn't have enough to worry about with adware, malware, spyware and all kinds of other nasty code that is to be found on the ‘net, now you have to be on the lookout for spy ware that masquerades as ADWARE SCAN software!

That's right, there are actually "publishers" ("scammers" is a more accurate description) out there who are passing off spyware infested "utilities" as legitimate adware removal software. These scammer's products have come to be known as "Rogue Anti Spyware utilities" and are just as dangerous as the spyware, adware and malware itself (and in fact, are detected as such by several legitimate anti malware utilities). "Spyware Stormer" is one such rogue utility.

This malware bills itself as "the world leader in Spyware prevention and elimination software", but in reality is not only guilty of aggressive, unethical advertising, but also practices a severely unethical activity known as "drive by installation" which is a common method of delivery for spyware, adware and malware. Furthermore, the software itself is a blatant cheap knockoff of the popular and highly effective anti ad ware/malware/spy ware utility, AdAware by Lavasoft.

It is important to do some research on these software utilities before you download and install them, as some of these utilities can be more dangerous than the adware they supposedly get rid of.

Remember, always download software from the major download sites, and be sure to research the adware remover utility you are considering BEFORE you download it. Anything that forces you to install separate utilities that appear to have nothing to do with spyware removal should definitely be considered suspicious.

Always think and run a virus check before you install software from any vendor you are not familiar with, regardless of how "cool" the utility looks.
